The mod also includes more realistic battle mechanics and new campaigns. What is most impressive about this mod is that it also includes over new units in the game. The mod also includes new factions and an improved soundtrack. The advanced mods which I mentioned are available from the Hosted Mods area. These smaller mods are available from the TWC Mod Threads sub-forum.

These mods can all be combined with Empire Total Factions, which allows you to play as any minor or emergent faction (emergent factions are the ones which are not on the campaign map at the start, such as Ireland, Mexico and the United States).

Equal Navy, since all navies except for the British, French and American navies have inferior-quality ships this mod gives ships from all factions equal accuracy, reloading and hull strength scores (French ships are still faster and have slightly weaker hulls).Īs I see it, the advantage of using a combination of smaller mods is that you can customise the game-play to suit your preferences. A mod to remove gabionades (since, when the AI artillery use them, they have a restricted field of fire, so winning a battle simply involves moving your army out of the enemy's cannon firing arc and advancing). A weather mod, to prevent the most extreme forms of weather (when I cannot see my units, battles become frustrating). A mod to remove bomb ketches, rocket ships and steamships (some people like them, I see the first two as overpowered and all three as not historical, for battles at sea in the 18th century) Bran's Empire BAI (Battle AI), to reduce the bad choices made by AI units on the battlefield Shokh Hates Sieges, preventing factions from building city forts, to dramatically reduce the number of siege battles (I find them repetitive and, on siege maps in India, laggy when a breach is made in the walls). Some of the advanced mods have some of these features built in (or available as optional sub-mods) - for example, Darthmod has 'no forts' option) :.

As well as the advanced mods such as Darthmod, Empire Total Factions, Imperial Splendour, Imperial Destroyer, 1800, Colonialism 1600AD and Empire Realism, there are smaller mods which are worth considering.
